Few facts a techie must know about storage devices
-Abbhirami
Hard disk or Hard drive or HDD is something we are all
familiar with but what about flash memory, SSD? Have you heard of these?
I think now it’s time for us to get to know about these
hardware stuffs a little bit
SSD- Solid State Drive are drive that are similar to HDD but
bigger which can store quite a large amount of data but as a flash memory. These
SSDs don’t have magnetic platters! They store data as electric chargers!! No
disk kind of thing is on it, so they don’t have to go in circles to fetch data.
Quicker access of data is one of its advantage.
Flash memory what is this thing all about?
Flash memory is similar to SSD but have a different NAND
gate construction inside it and a less storage capacity. Do not try comparing SSD with flash memory it is like comparing a battery to a lithium ion(the latter is a type of former).
Hope you’ve got some very basic idea about what these things
are about.
