English is the lingua franca. It has become quite essential to have good speaking and understanding skills in English. English is needed in all sphere of life. If somebody is lacking in English then his probability of getting a job declines.

Students of State Boards are most sufferers when it comes to English. Since most State Board Schools have their medium in their own mother a tongue, their knowledge in English is weaker compared to the students of other streams.

Rigorous training is given to a student when he/she is in grade 12.Then the system of learning entirely changes when he/she steps into a college. Students from all medium meet at college. Some students find it hard to make themselves comfortable with the classes and lectures presented by the teachers, since their medium of schooling differs. Some may come from ICSE, some from CBSE and some from State Boards and their level of English proficiency differs which gives them hardships in learning the subjects.

To get into foreign universities,  exams like IELTS,TOEFL, PTE scores are needed for the international students. These exams help in testing the English of a student. The scores that are obtained from these exams shows whether the student has the specified English knowledge to go and sustain in abroad universities.

Similarly a common English exam can be conducted in India for the students who have just completed their 12th.This exam can then serve the purpose to know about the understanding,writing and speaking ability of a student in English.After finding out their standards, foundation program or rigorous English program can be give to those students who have failed to achieve the minimum score.

Communication is the ultimate way of expressing your thoughts.Companies world-wide prefer any employee who is well-versed in English. So this exam can be very helpful in increasing the employability of a candidate.
