The Women’s Day Hackathon.

Madurai being the temple city which is revered for its historic events is now currently upgrading its standard and rising to heights in technology.The two day Hackathon that was held on March 21^st and 22^nd  stands a proof for this.

The first day started with the crowds gathering up at Lady Doak College with hundreds of students profoundly with young active girls from various fields of study and colleges.This workshop gave the entire crowd  and me an insight about the handheld application developments.

Day one was set on fire with the highly spirited competitions. Colleges that gathered divided themselves into teams.Each team took its own title which is our own future company name and we are asked to assign ourselves to posts in our own companies! We were motivated to develop our own Facebook pages.This partly transformed us into half-entrepreneurs !

We were asked to prepare a storyboard ,paper prototypes and sample prototype and the last one was to turn our ideas into apps!We had two session on the first day.The first session was handled by the two young Google Student Ambassadors and was continued with an eminent person from Qualcomm, Mr.M.Senthil Kumar.
This first day event was ended with our ideas lingering on our minds for the day 2’s action .

March 22^nd was the day for teams to pitch their ideas in front of other teams and judges in Madura College. We were marked for our ideas, implementations, explanations,storyboard and the prototypes that we have modeled.Each team came-out with lots of new spectacular ideas that would help this society. A team had already built  their application and was found  running on their mobiles, which really made us all gape at their high spirit of involvement.

This day was then ended with a formal closing ceremony with prizes distributed to the teams .

The two day hackathon successfully came to an end with a new beginning .

This Hackathon stands as a beginning for my friends here in Madurai to prove themselves  as equal competitors to other app developers all across the globe!
