Marks - not mandatory
-Abbhirami
Marks are so dominant in this society.
You are totally judged based on the numbers. The Educational system cannot be
transformed completely. All these things have already been said.
The two things that have never turned clichés
are Money and Marks, I feel. When I was in school, I did not gain much
information about how to study things and improve my scores. But right now,
after bit of research, I got to know what I should do to score more.
The concept is so simple. The point is
that our brain is composed of 2 parts the Memory part and the Derivation part. The
Memory part is where you store things just by memorizing. The latter part which
I mentioned is where you use the memory part in deriving/understanding things . Let us take an
example of solving a mathematical problem. For solving any mathematical problem
it would need some formula or theorems. Those are to be memorized and those get
stored in Memory part. And the actual problem solving is done by our own understanding, which takes place in
the Derivation Part. But what usually happens is we tend to memorize the whole sum,
including the derivation. This makes the Derivation part inactive, giving us no
good insight about what we have learnt. This leads to worst scores when we step
into college.
For the students who are here in
India, will know what is done during their class 9th and class 11th.
I can very well say that these students who are in the class 9th and
11th nott really taught what has to be taught in 9th and
11th . Instead jump to 10th portion if they are in 9th
and 12th if they are in 11th. So I think the real
learning part gets closed when they are in 8th. And schools become
so busy in taking 10th and 12th portions for the sake of
marks.
Leave out the marks that you score in
your boards and other exams. Let us get to know the various types of
examinations that are conducted for the students who are in their class 9th.
(I didn’t really know these kinds of examinations existed when I was in my 9th exceptions
NCERT, NSTSE).
