Singularity - Artificial
intelligence at its apex
-Abbhirami
Science was born when people began to observe, think and
comprehend. Decades back there were two sects of people those who had immense
faith in science and did not believe in existence of God. The other who solely
believed God and were skeptical in matters related to science and technologies.
Leonardo da Vinci
was the believer in science. He is revered for his ingenuity and inventions in
the field of sciences. It is said he was
the very first to design plans for humanoid robots.
His works stands as a proof as human at some point or the
other wanted to design machines that does work quiet similar to the humans. His
works has created and served as platforms for others to think and innovate.
This was the beginning.
The advancement of technologies is not surprising to many of
us nowadays. The advancements have become a routine. Every day we hear about
new innovations made in the field of science and technology. Virtual thoughts
and dreams have started to step into the earth as real physical ones.
Our dependencies on machines are ever increasing. Of course
they reduce the human efforts. This ever increasing human crave on consuming
technologies has created a global impact. We have started to depend so much on
them.
Artificial
Intelligence is the talk of this era. Lots and lots of new innovations and
inventions are indefatigably designed to create the model. Super intelligence is the new term that has currently replaced
artificial intelligence. This is a field that structures the machines in super
designed way that makes it the ultimate.
Some also fear that this period will be more dangerous than nukes
(nuclear weapons).
Tremendous efforts are pumped in across many part of the
world in structuring humanoid robots which can do all most everything that a
human can do. Currently the top 3
positions are bagged by Asimo, HPR-4 and NAO, which are the humanoid robots.
Humanoid robots are robots that do work quite similar to a
man. It walks, talks, teaches, sings, at times dances, responds to the
instructions and much more. Scientists are taking more efforts to bring in
emotions into machines. Things that were unimaginable, are stepping into real
world in this era. Artificial Neural
Networks increases the possibilities of bringing emotions into robots.
Bringing in emotions is not just their ultimate goal. If filling machines with
emotions is possible, there is also a possibility of finding out the future.
Someday or the other there is a belief that technology
somehow will surpass the human intelligence. This phenomenon is called as Singularity - the rise and emergence of
machines, overpowering the human race. This term was first used by the
mathematician named John Von Neumann, who foretold about the future about 50
years back. It can happen within next 30 - 40 years or less. There is this
possibility because as it is said before, the human consumption and innovation
will always be rocketing up until a saturation point is met. That point will
have machines ratio more than that of humans.
As we have seen in
many sci-fi movies the “Time Machine” might someday jump from fictional to
factual world. When Sixth sense technology is coupled with the robotics then
that is it. Machines will not be machines any more. Game over.
