No turn back at all. This is our game time. We are all here gathered for one sole reason.
We are not only gathered here for this but also to voice out for our farmers
and for their problems.
Getting now deeper into the roots of the problem. I see
people from other places still having the doubts behind this protest.
Why we want it?
Jallikattu or Er thazhluvudhal is a game that has been here
in this place since a long time. It is actually a test for the bulls through
which they segregate powerful bulls. It is
our culture and custom. We want it. And that’s it. No blah blahs at all, if you
want to know more about this please check this link:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jallikattu
Why we are more concern about our bulls?
Banning jallikattu will decimate our indigenous bulls. According to the reports it is be known that there were 130 or so cattle breeds
in India 100 years ago and now there are only 37. Unless we engage with the
traditional livestock keepers and support them, we will lose these breeds as
well as lay the ground for commercial cattle based dairies and slaughter houses
to dominate the country.
Tamil Nadu had six cattle breeds
earlier and now we have lost the Alambadi breed. The remaining breeds are
Kangayam, Pulikulam, Umbalachery, Barugur and Malai Maadu. There are a few more
minor breeds without proper documentation or care. Most of these are on the
verge of extinction.
What is PETA?
PETA is a US based organization that has one of its branches
in India, with a principle that animals are not ours to eat,
wear, experiment on or use for entertainment.
Why is PETA concerned about “jallikattu"?
The fist misconception is that jallikattu has nothing
to do with Spanish bullfight. The two are very different. The sport in India is
not about baiting or injuring the bull but of “embracing the bull”.
PETA
says that cruelty is meted out to animals by giving them alcohol, prodding and
twisting their tails etc, that organisers beat the bulls, stuffing
something pungent in their nostrils, confine them in a dark, suffocating
place in order to enrage them. The reality is different. Amidst all the
regulations and scrutiny, which bull owner will risk giving alcohol to the
bulls? Glucose water is given to them for stamina. Out of the 10,000
instances of bulls let out a year, the anti-jallikattu activists have produced
images/videos of may be 7-8 bulls where an offence might have taken place. They
have the power to identify the owner and take action against him under the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Each bull is registered with the
authorities, with photographs as well as the owner’s information.
Their real face of PETA:
We don’t feel that PETA is really caring about our kaalai(Indian
bulls) the underlined motive of the organization is to eliminate our indigenous
bulls from our land. And want jersey cows to come to our land instead.
I have put this very short.
Why we want to kick them away?
First of all we want no foreign corporate to tell us what is cruel and what is not. We have clear proof that it is plain sport which
is for the bulls that has been working a year during the period of cultivation.
Secondly, they motto is different; PETA is not here to
really “save” bulls. If they are really caring about the animals they would
have stopped all these
Every rule has an exception. we regulate to curtail the exceptions, but not to end the sport. The approach of the activists from
day one has been to end jallikattu at any cost.

To all my student friends:
We are here supporting. We are together. We are here for us.
I can feel the intense. As one my friends tweeted we should help our farmers,
mainly. We can stop watching films and instead donate the funds for them. This
is our time to show. Enough of staying back at home, I want all my dear friends
to get down to the ground to fight for our rights and culture.
No matter where we are, we are united as Indians. I see many North Indian friends of mine supporting. for all my North Indian friends, be careful this can also happen to you some day. When it comes to our culture and custom stand like a rock.
The power of youth is
immeasurable. Wait and watch, the changes we bring!
Tamilan da!
Do share and like it ;)
